Westinghouse H-386T5 50s Era Clock Radio - Works!
Here is a pleasant 1950s era white plastic Westinghouse H-386T5 'All American 5' tube type Am clock radio. The top could use polishing to buff a few marks off and there is a crack in the top that is likely related to heat from the 50C5 audio output tube. There were also probably plastic covers over the clock hands and radio dial once. If they were there, they aren't now the hands and dial are fine though and look good the way that they are. The radio and clock work fine in a quick test. Actual shipping costs are additional. Insurance is recommended. I cannot be held responsible for damage or non-delivery of uninsured items. I will help in any way that I can with insured items in the unlikely (but real) event that there should there be a problem. |

Zenith F508V Late Fifties Coral Table Radio
Here is a very nice example of a late fifties or, possibly, very early sixties vintage modern coral and white Zenith table radio. It is in generally very nice shape with no cracks, chips, or major damage. The is a small spot of paint above the 'EN' in Zenith on the front and a spot of white paint between two of the lower ribs. There are a few vewry minor scuffs especially on the top. As to operation, the radio hums but does received garbled station. It is the classic filter capcitor problem which is easy to fix. A refund will be issued if this radio is returned within 10 days in its current condition less shipping costs. Actual shipping costs are additional. There will be no 'handling fee' added! Thanks for looking! |

Vintage-rare 1930's era tube radio -high quality
This is a unique, non restored, very good condition, working vintage 1930's tube radio. It's in a beautifuly crafted solid wood cabinet, possibly maple, and is of high quality, in both design and materials. Standing 15"high X 12"wide X 8" deep, weighing 14lbs., it is hand signed with a oval logo on the back- A John J. Spinak Original. On the underside is a label-Approved City of LA Bldg and Safety 69608. I have not seen another one like this, a French provincial style radio, ornately trimmed with brass, and has a storage drawer. The speaker, dial(50-160) and tuning knobs are protected by two wire lattice doors, that can be opened or securely latched. The back has a creatively carved design. It is in original, non restored condition, has a few scratches in the finish, but otherwise is in very good condition, and still operates with good volume and reception. My grandmother, a talk radio fan, was it's original owner, and she took very good care of it. PRICE $500.00 Oceanside,California |

Extremely rare 1920s Sonora console radio
In its early days, Sonora was known for its phonographs in attractive cabinets. But on the side in the 1920s the company also made radios. This one, a Model B33, can be found in the oldest Rider volume on page 2192. The 2-door console cabinet was beautifully restored. When I bought this radio at auction, my wife (for the first time) said "Let's keep this. It's too attractive to sell." So we did. It needed some new wiring and a new dial string, and I took care of that. It plays beautifully through the original 18" speaker. The company won awards for its sound. After a couple of years the new dial string came loose and still is. This circuit could benefit from AVC when you go from a quiet station to a loud one. It's been speculated that the volume control works by varying the DC screen grid voltage of the #24 RF amplifier tubes. This controls volume by varying the RF signal delivered to the grid of the #27 detector tube. Dunno... The web has a fair amount of information on Sonoras, and I printed out much of it. I also have the schematic. Sonora's motto was "Clear as a Bell." It helps to use that (with the quotes) in web searching, as the word 'sonora' has many contexts. All 8 tubes check out strong. It uses a CX-380, two CX-345s, a C-327, and four C-324s. There are 5 pictures of this radio here. I want to sell this but have no idea of a price. Arguably it's the best Sonora B33 in the world. It will please any collector no matter how high his standards. Shipping is out of the question. I used to ship consoles but it's too strenuous for someone my age. Either you or your agent comes to Charlottesville, VA, to get it, or we work out a price for me to drive it to you. rey at cstone dot net |
